The Author

(KISS)

Keep it simple ‘sweetie’. As many others, I use to say, “keep it simple stupid”. Then a Canadian member of our Satsang, Nancy Payne, suggested, “Why not say, keep it simple ‘sweetie’, that would be more in line with what we are doing here.”

The old dualistic thought system

For me this started when I was in Malaysia back in the early 70’s volunteering in the U.S. Peace Corps and our Canadian lead from the Canadian International Development Agency kept telling us: “KISS man, Kiss – keep it simple stupid” and it sunk in. After reading A Course in Miracles about six times, and coordinating a study group in Antigua, Guatemala (Satsang) where we went chapter by chapter over 2 years to understand the essential principles of The Course, it finally started to sink in. At the end, I looked at our little group and thought, “I have one more task before we conclude our work, I must give you a KISS.” My little book The Essence of A Course in Miracles is the KISS.

I was born in the Hudson Valley of New York. I went to a Jesuit University (Fordham) in New York City where I received a Bachelor of Science degree, then volunteered in the U.S. Peace Corp, returned to New York City, worked, and went to night school to get a Master’s Degree in Information Technology. After working in the corporate sector for a number of years I received a position as a budget director for one of the United Nations development agencies. In that capacity I worked and visited many countries around the world supporting programs for women and children. After fifteen years working for UNICEF. I changed my career and took a position as an information technology consultant and worked on many systems development projects for twenty years. What’s the point? From the perspective of the world, I have been a rather practical person and, thankfully, rather successful. Always trying to KISS for our U.N. partners and our consulting clients.
Developing along with my professional career, was an interest in philosophy and metaphysics. I decided to go to a university in New York City, a Jesuit school, even though at that time I was, at best, an agnostic. When I was in the Peace Corp I was introduced to the Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda, a Vedic Monk in the Ramakrishna Order. For the most part, his works are a recording of his talks when he visited the United States from India in the late 1800’s. Given that in Malaysia in the early 70’s volunteers had no televisions in our homes, we read quite a bit. And we shared what we were reading with others – it was fun. In reading those works, I learned about the different Yogas (Bhakti, Jnana, Karma and Raja). At that time, I also learned Hatha Yoga and did the Asanas daily. When I returned to New York City from Malaysia I discovered that there was a Vedic Monk, Swami Adiswarananda, who led the Ramakrishna – Vivekananda Center in New York. For twelve years, I attended classes three times per week and did volunteer work for the center on Saturdays. I learned many interesting things from my teacher. After coordinating our study group on A Course in Miracles for two years, I decided it was time to go back to school. I worked on getting a PhD at the University of Metaphysical Sciences in California. Therefore, for many years along with the development of a professional career there was a simultaneous evolution of my spiritual interests.

And now this website: what’s the point? What is its’s purpose?

Through my studies in metaphysics, studying A Course in Miracles, and applying the principles therein to experiences in this lifetime, I have come to understand that the more aware we become of the dynamics of our mind, the more we realize that we have the freedom to choose: love over fear, the holy relationship over the special relationship, grandeur over grandiosity, error over sin, knowledge over information, guiltlessness over guilt, the voice of the spirit over the voice of the ego, etc. As we evolve into more conscious beings, we learn that we have the power to choose those causes that lead to joy and happiness [the Happy Dream]  as opposed to chaos and pain. The Course informs us that for us to wake up we must be willing to help our brothers and sisters wake up. This is based on the metaphysical principle (the teachings of the Holy Spirit): to have all, give all. Thus, this website has been so designed to share these principles and teachings by utilizing digital technologies and social media.

The new non-dualistic thought system.

ACIM Workbook Lesson 95

I am one Self, united with my Creator

“You are one Self, united and secure in light and joy and peace. You are God’s Son, one Self, with one Creator and one goal; to bring awareness of this oneness to all minds, that true creation may extend the ‘allness’ and the unity of God. You are one Self, complete and healed and whole, with power to lift the veil of darkness from the world, and let the light in you come through to teach the world the truth about yourself.
You are one Self, in perfect harmony with all there is, and all that there will be. You are one Self, the holy Son of God, united with your brothers in that Self; united with your Father in His Will. Feel this one Self in you, and let It shine away all your illusions and your doubts. This is your Self, the Son of God Himself, sinless as Its Creator, with His strength within you and His Love forever yours. You are one Self, and it is given you to feel this Self within you, and to cast all your illusions out of the one Mind that is this Self, the holy truth in you.”
